Lobby 2012
Online shopping will continue to grow considerably in 2012. Home-shopping is now well-established at the heart of society. This brings (new) responsibilities for Thuiswinkel.org. For example, where the association's capacity and technology permits, we must accept responsibility in the fields of privacy and – where possible – the prevention of leaks and unsafe websites. This includes the safe and responsible initiation and conclusion of transactions.
The central position of home-shopping also explains why – in 2012 – Profit, People and the Planet will be leading topics in the promotion of interests by Thuiswinkel.org. Businesses, people and our surroundings/the world should all profit from the opportunities provided by home-shopping. Thuiswinkel.org will aim at:
1. Profit, a good entrepreneurial climate for webshops
Businesses must be able to profit from the interaction between rules, self-regulation and supervision. After all, these elements determine the climate within which webshops can do that which they do best: providing customers with services and making a profit.
2. People: safe and reliable webshopping
Customers are webshops' raison d'étre. We must take good care of them. In the first place this means business done by identifiable customers and businesses. Furthermore, safe delivery and payment in a safe environment benefit both customers and businesses.
3. Planet
Home-shopping must be good for both businesses and consumers. Corporate social accountability and sustainability are important topics in the society of 2012 and Thuiswinkel.org expects the importance of sustainable webshops to increase during the next few years.
Results 2011
The economic and social impact of the growing home-shopping market is enormous. This places responsibilities upon the branch. Five signifiers were designated in 2011, in order to be able to requite this accountability.
Working groups and commissions
Thuiswinkel.org contains nine working groups and two commissions. They can be created or disbanded after the members or the secretariat initiates the proper procedure, after which the board has the right to approve of reject the suggestion. Employees of union members with expertise in relevant areas are allowed to participate in the working groups or commissions.
