19 dec 2011Profit, People, Planet – lobby spearheads for 2012

The entrepreneurial climate for webshops, the interests of consumers and the development of viewpoints regarding durability are central to the promotion of interests by Thuiswinkel.org in 2012.

Businesses, consumers and our environment must all be able to profit from the almost unlimited opportunities presented by home-shopping. In 2012 Thuiswinkel.org therefore wants to work towards:
  • A good entrepreneurial climate for webshops (profit)
  • Where consumers can do their shopping safely and reliably (people)
  • Durable webshops (planet)

Profit and people
Businesses must be able to profit from the combined interaction between rules, self-regulation and supervision. After all, these elements determine the climate within which webshops can do that which they do best: providing customers with services, making a profit and thus contributing to growth in home-shopping and the Dutch economy. At the same time, customers are the very raison d’être of webshops, and must therefore be well cared for. This makes safe and reliable shopping other important issues.

Planet
Socially responsible entrepreneurship and durability are other important topics in society during 2012. Thuiswinkel.org expects an increase in the importance of durable webshops during the next few years.

It is logical that webshops will be asking how they can contribute, now and in the future, to improving the environment or to a better world. Thuiswinkel.org will have to provide a reply to this question now that home-shopping has left its infancy far behind it. This will require some fundamental work being done in 2012.

The lobby spearheads and related activities will be presented during the General Members’ Meeting and the New Year’s Reception on 12th January 2012.

These lobby spearheads were presented by the workgroups and approved by Executive Board of Thuiswinkel.org this month. The workgroups are indispensible in supporting the promotion of interests and lobbying.
