Online shopping, per market sector (in percentages)
In 2009 travel was the most important product category. More than one-third of the total online turnover comes from travel, which encompasses airline tickets, package holidays and hotels.

Telecom is the second turnover category, with 766 million euros. Consumer electronics and white goods together account for a turnover of 634 million euros. Hardware and software were good for more than half a billion euros in 2009.

In 2009 more than 465 million euros’ worth of clothes were sold online in the Netherlands. In 2005 the sum was only 182 million. Since 2005 the turnover of all product categories has grown by a factor of 2.5 to 2.8. Only the category travel achieved a lower growth factor: 2.3.
