Consumer confidence
Consumer confidence is a gauge for future developments in consumer expenditure, particularly expenditure on durable goods.

The index for consumer confidence can range from -100 to +100. An index value of 0 means the number of pessimists is equal to the number of optimists.

The graph shows sizeable fluctuations. After 2005 consumer confidence became less negative from time to time. By the middle of 2007/2008, consumer confidence reached its peak. After that, confidence reverted to negative values.
