Thuiswinkel.org recently expelled 36 webshops from the association. These webshops have by now been removed from the list of members and have already received a registered letter stating that their membership has been terminated.
The association terminated the membership of these webshops because they did not complete certification by the Thuiswinkel Waarborg. Only certified members are allowed to display the Thuiswinkel Waarborg logo.
According to Wijnand Jongen, director of Thuiswinkel.org, the names have been removed from the list of members because, for a variety of reasons, they were unable to fulfil the requirements laid down for certification. Jongen: “There is simply no place in our association for webshops that are unwilling to fulfil the laws and legislation”.
Since 2009 members of Thuiswinkel.org are certified by the independent Thuiswinkel Waarborg Certification Foundation. They have placed certification in the hands of the Amsterdam-based ICTRecht, which monitors members each year for adherence to relevant laws, legislation and behavioural regulations as well as compliance with the general terms and conditions as laid down by the Dutch Consumers’ Association. Thuiswinkel.org currently has 1,462 certified members.
